Background: During the 2005 legislative session, the public records disclosure exemptions were recodified, amended, and reorganized as a new chapter cited as the Public Records Act (Act). The Act takes effect July 1, 2006.

Also during the 2005 legislative session, amendments that created new exemptions were made to the public records disclosure exemptions section. Some of the references to the public records disclosure section throughout the Revised Code have not been updated to reflect the correct, new chapter created in 2005.

Summary of Bill: Public records exemptions enacted in 2005 are recodified into the new chapter of statute. References are corrected.

Testimony For: This is a technical bill that completes the work done last year when the exemptions to public disclosure were removed from chapter 42.17 RCW and given their own chapter of law.
