Background: Every county is required to establish an equipment rental and revolving fund for the purchase, maintenance, and repair of county road department equipment. With the approval of the county legislative body, the county engineer or other appointee administers the fund and is responsible for establishing terms and charges for the sale of material or supplies that have been purchased from the fund. Rental rates for equipment owned by the fund are determined by the county engineer subject to annual review by the county legislative authority.

Summary of Bill: Rental rates for equipment owned by the fund can be determined by the county engineer or by an appointee of the county legislative body.

Testimony For: This bill is a technical fix. It was an oversight to not allow the engineer or appointee to set the rates. This bill is by request of county commissioners.
