Background: Prior to 2002, Washington law assessed annual small trailer license fees of $4.50
for new registrations and $3.25 for renewal registrations. Small trailers are defined as one or two
wheeled personal use trailers with a gross weight of less than 2,000 pounds and are operated on
public highways.
Substitute Senate Bill 6814, enacted in 2002, replaced the $4.50 registration and $3.25 renewal
fees for small trailers with an annual license tab fee of $30.
Summary of Bill: The current, annual license tab fee for small trailers is lowered from $30 to $4.50 for new registrations and $3.25 for renewals.
