Background: School district board of directors may adopt a resolution authorizing the board to receive compensation of fifty dollars per day or a portion thereof for attending board meetings and for performing other services on behalf of the school district. Compensation may not exceed four thousand eight hundred dollars per year. A board of directors may authorize compensation only from locally collected excess levy funds available for that purpose. Board member compensation may not cause the state to incur any present or future funding obligations. A school director may waive any compensation during his or her term of office by filling a written waiver with the district. The waiver must be filed any time after the director[rsquo ]s election and before the date on which the compensation would be paid.

Summary of Bill: School district board of directors may adopt a resolution authorizing each member of the school board to receiver compensation not to exceed one hundred dollars for each day the member attends an official meeting for the board or performs statutorily prescribed duties. A board member may not receive compensation if they work full time in any agency of the Federal government, Washington State government, Washington State local government, or school district in Washington State and are receiving compensation from the government for working that day.
