Background: Changes in state law have allowed the contracting out of some governmental services. There are several companies that manage timber lands for various trusts and these companies may be able to provide for the long term needs of the state trusts.
Summary of Bill: The Office of Financial Management and the Department of Personnel must develop procedures and standards to allow the Department of Natural Resources to contract out the management of state trust lands. A report to the legislature with proposed legislation is required by January 1, 2006.
