Background: Washington law establishes time limits within which criminal cases must be charged and prosecuted. Generally, the time for bringing a criminal case begins running when a crime is committed.

Summary of Bill: For certain sexually based offenses, the time for bringing a criminal case is modified. Time may begin running on the date the crime was committed or one year from the date on which a suspect is identified through DNA testing of the evidence in the case.
