WHEREAS, The legislature is authorized to approve names for certain
state facilities based on recommendations from the State Capitol
Committee and the Department of General Administration, with the advice
of the Capitol Campus Design Advisory Committee and subject to specific
criteria; and
WHEREAS, It was recommended that the public space on the first
floor of the Legislative Building be named "The Columbia Room" in
recognition of one of the state's significant natural places; and
WHEREAS, It was recommended the state office building at 7345
Linderson Way SW in Tumwater, Washington be named the "Edna Lucille
Goodrich Building" in recognition of her distinguished public career
that included serving as the state's first female superintendent of an
adult female prison;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, By the House of Representatives of
the state of Washington, the Senate concurring, That the
recommendations are accepted and the names are approved.
