HOUSE RESOLUTION NO.2005-4660, by Representative Hunt

     WHEREAS, The organization Sweet Adelines International was founded in Tulsa, Oklahoma, in 1945; and
     WHEREAS, Sweet Adelines International is dedicated to advancing the uniquely American musical art form of 4-part a cappella barbershop style of vocal music through continuing vocal education and performance opportunities for women of all ages and diversity; and
     WHEREAS, Members of Sweet Adelines International entertain countless thousands of people annually with their own particular blend of harmony, choreography, and interpretation of both traditional and modern song; and
     WHEREAS, Today Sweet Adelines International boasts over 30,000 female singers in 600 choruses and 1,200 quartets, hailing from 14 countries and representing an amazing variety of cultures; and
     WHEREAS, Region 13 encompasses most of Washington State, all of Alaska, and parts of Idaho; and
     WHEREAS, There are 15 active Sweet Adelines choruses throughout the state of Washington, including 9 in the Puget Sound area alone; and
     WHEREAS, The City of Seattle, Washington will host the annual Sweet Adelines International Convention and Competition from October 19 through 23, 2010;
     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That the Washington State House of Representatives encourage all citizens to join in recognizing Sweet Adelines International for 60 years of service to preserving the unique barbershop harmony in local communities in Washington and around the world; and
     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be sent to Diane Huber, President, and Sue Middleton, Region 13 Team Coordinator, of Sweet Adelines International.
