Beginning on page 2, line 31, strike all of subsection (3) and
insert the following:
"(3) The alien firearm license shall be valid for five years from
the date of issue so long as the alien is lawfully present in the
United States. The nonrefundable fee, paid upon application, for the
five-year license shall be ((fifty-five)) thirty dollars plus
additional charges imposed by the Washington state patrol and the
Federal Bureau of Investigation that are passed on to the applicant.
The nonrefundable license fee shall be ((distributed as follows:)) paid to the county sheriff's department conducting the
background check."
(a) Fifteen dollars shall be paid to the department of licensing;
(b) Twenty-five dollars shall be paid to the Washington state
patrol; and
(c) Fifteen dollars shall be paid to the local law enforcement
agency
EFFECT: (1) Reduces the nonrefundable license fee from fifty-five
dollars plus additional charges to thirty dollars plus additional
charges.
(2) Provides that the Washington State Patrol (WSP) may impose
charges upon the applicant in addition to the nonrefundable fee. This
change allows the WSP to impose charges based upon its fee schedule
rather than a flat rate imposed by statute.
(3) Provides that the county sheriff's department will be paid the
thirty dollar nonrefundable fee to conduct the required background
check.
