   On page 3, line 27, after "provide" strike "funding." and insert "funding, once approved by the legislature. This legislation does not provide legislative approval of the preliminary scholastic assessment test (PSAT), the scholastic assessment test (SAT), or the American college test (ACT), as an alternative for the reading and writing Washington assessment of student learning; or the advance placement examinations, and the norm-reference student achievement tests in each content area as alternatives to the Washington assessment of student learning. Prior to implementation of any of these assessments, the office of the superintendent of public instruction or the state board of education must seek legislative approval of each of these assessments as an alternative. The legislature shall formally approve the use of these assessments through the omnibus appropriations act or by statute or concurrent resolution."

   Renumber the sections consecutively and correct any internal references accordingly.

EFFECT: Prior to the specified alternative assessments being implemented, the OSPI or the State Board must seek approval from the Legislature.
