Brief Summary of Bill
  • Extends the career and technical education curricula advisory committee beyond December 2008 and requires a report by December 2009 on the committee's recommendations.

Background:

In 2007, the Legislature created an advisory committee to identify career and technical education (CTE) curricula that will assist in preparing students for the Washington Assessment of Student Learning and to obtain a Certificate of Academic Achievement. The advisory committee was directed to provide an initial report by January 2008, and if necessary, a work plan with additional reporting deadlines, but not to extend beyond December 15, 2008.

Summary of Bill:

The CTE curricula advisory committee is extended beyond December 2008. By December 2009, the advisory committee must report to the Governor and the Legislature on the status of its original recommendations and any additional recommendations necessary to accomplish the goals of the initial report.

Effective Date: The bill takes effect 90 days after adjournment of session in which bill is passed.
