Brief Summary of Substitute Bill
  • Authorizes microbreweries operating as self-distributors to maintain one off-premise warehouse for the distribution of beer if the warehouse is approved by the Liquor Control Board.

Background:

A microbrewery license authorizes a microbrewery to distribute its own product directly to retailers from its premises. The microbrewery is restricted to distributing its product from its brewery since the license only attaches to the microbrewery's premises.

Summary of Bill:

A microbrewery operating as a self-distributor is authorized to maintain one warehouse site off the premises of the microbrewery for the distribution of beer if the warehouse is approved by the Liquor Control Board.

Rules Authority: The bill does not address the rule-making powers of an agency.

Appropriation: None.

Fiscal Note: Not requested.

Effective Date: Section 1 of the bill expires on June 30, 2008, and section 2 takes effect on June 30, 2008.
