Background: The State Wildlife Account receives various revenues collected by the Department of Fish and Wildlife (DFW). This revenue includes, among many items, the sale of many DFW issued licenses and tags, administrative penalties, compensation for damages, wildlife-related license plates, and watchable wildlife decals. Statute directs that monies in the Wildlife Account must be used only to support DFW activities and programs.

Prior to 2005, the Wildlife Account was legally named the Wildlife Fund. The Legislature changed the legal title to the Wildlife Account in 2005, but did not correct the existing cross-references.

Summary of Bill: References to the"Wildlife Fund" are updated to reference the current account name, which is the "Wildlife Account."

Appropriation: None.

Effective Date: Ninety days after adjournment of session in which bill is passed.

Staff Summary of Public Testimony: PRO: This bill simply clarifies references to the wildlife account to provide consistency in statute.

Persons Testifying: PRO: Representative Loomis, prime sponsor.
