Background: Each year, every executive state officer must file a statement of financial affairs for the preceding calendar year. Among others, the members of the boards of trustees of each four-year public institution of higher education and members of the boards of trustees for each public community college are defined as executive officers.

Summary of Bill: The boards of trustees for each public technical college are added to the list of executive state officers. These trustees must file yearly statements of financial affairs.

Appropriation: None.

Fiscal Note: Not requested.

Effective Date: Ninety days after adjournment of session in which bill is passed.

Staff Summary of Public Testimony: PRO: This is a good change in the name of openness and good government. This provision provides that all gubernatorial appointees for boards at institutions of higher education are treated the same.
