Background: Lodging tax revenues can be used for activities and expenditures designed to
increase tourism, including tourism-related facilities.
The lodging tax may not exceed 2 percent on the sale of or charge made for the furnishing of
lodging.
Summary of Bill: In towns with a population of less than 10,000, lodging tax revenues may also
be used for the cost of salaries and equipment acquisition or maintenance of public safety
activities directed towards tourism.
