Brief Description: Authorizing the transfer of accumulated leave between the common school and higher education systems.

Background: The higher education statutes currently provide that accumulated leave of
employees at the community colleges must be transferrable between college districts, any state
agency, any Educational Service District (ESD), any school district, or any of the public four-year
institutions of higher education.
The K-12 statutes currently provide that accumulated leave of certificated, classified, and ESD
employees must be transferrable to and from one school district to another, the Office of the
Superintendent of Public Instruction, and the office of the ESDs.
Summary: Clarifying language is added to the K-12 statutes to explicitly permit the transfer of accumulated leave of certificated, classified, and ESD employees to and from institutions of higher education and community colleges.
