EFFECT:  Focuses the committee striking amendment on the health care needs of Washington residents and not all Americans. Ensures options for health care coverage will be available in both the private market and through public programs. Ensures any health care reform plan will define the appropriate role of the private and public sectors in financing health care coverage in Washington state. Ensures the advisory group will monitor reforms in the private health insurance market to provide individuals and employers with more affordable health insurance options.
