    On page 2, line 26 of the striking amendment, after "representative;" insert the following:

    "(e) The secretary or the secretary's designee has determined that the alien offender is literate in the majority language of the country or location designated in the final deportation or exclusion order;"

    Renumber remaining subsections consecutively and correct any internal references accordingly.

EFFECT:   Requires the Secretary of the Department of Corrections, or his or her designee, prior to placing an alien offender on conditional release status, to determine that the offender is literate in the majority language of the country or location designated in the deportation or exclusion order.
