    On page 6, beginning on line 36, after "Asian" strike all material through "provider" on page 7, line 3 and insert "medical treatments, including acupuncture ((treatment shall not be continued)) , may only be continued after the patient signs a written waiver acknowledging the risks associated with the failure to pursue treatment from a primary health care provider.  The waiver must also include: (a) An explanation of an East Asian medicine practitioner's scope  of practice, including the services and techniques East Asian medicine practitioners are authorized to provide and (b) a statement that the services and techniques that an East Asian medicine practitioner is authorized to provide will not resolve the patient's underlying potentially serious disorder"

 

 

      

           EFFECT:  Requires, for purposes of allowing an East Asian Medicine Practitioner to continue treating a patient who has refused a consultation, a waiver to include: (a) an explanation of an East Asian Medicine Practitioner's scope of practice, including the types of services and techniques East Asian Medicine Practitioners are authorized to provide and (b) a statement that the services and techniques that an East Asian medicine practitioner is authorized to provide will not resolve the patient's underlying potentially serious disorder.  Clarifies that individuals may provide the following techniques and services without being licensed as East Asian Medicine Practitioners: dietary advice and health education; breathing, relaxation, and East Asian exercise techniques; Qi Gong; East Asian massage and Tui Na; and superficial heat and cold therapies.
