     AN ACT Relating to conducting an inventory of publicly owned high-speed internet infrastructure; adding a new section to chapter 43.105 RCW; creating a new section; and repealing RCW 43.105.350.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

NEW SECTION.  Sec. 1   It is the intent of the legislature to assess what high-speed internet infrastructure is already publicly owned or leased in order to better understand opportunities to leverage existing resources, with the ultimate goal of making high-speed internet service more readily available throughout the state.

NEW SECTION.  Sec. 2   A new section is added to chapter 43.105 RCW to read as follows:
     (1) The department shall conduct a detailed survey of all high-speed internet infrastructure owned or leased by agencies.
     (2) Within existing resources, the department shall use the information gathered under subsection (1) of this section to create a geographic information system map of all high-speed internet infrastructure owned or leased by the state by December 1, 2016.
     (3) Agencies shall respond to any request for information from the department in a reasonable and timely manner.
     (4) For purposes of this section, "agency" includes all state agencies and all local agencies. "State agency" includes every state office, department, division, bureau, board, commission, or other state agency. "Local agency" includes every county, city, town, municipal corporation, quasi-municipal corporation, or special purpose district, or any office, department, division, bureau, board, commission, or agency thereof, or other local public agency.

NEW SECTION.  Sec. 3   RCW 43.105.350 (Request for information from providers -- Limitation) and 2008 c 262 s 3 are each repealed.
