WHEREAS, There are more than 700,000 veterans residing in the state
of Washington; and
WHEREAS, Eighteen percent of the veterans who sought jobs within
one to three years of discharge are unemployed; and
WHEREAS, The citizens of Washington are well aware of the
sacrifices made by veterans and their families in defense to our
country and our state; and
WHEREAS, The laws of the state of Washington have long granted
recognition of a veteran's sacrifices by providing preferred employment
opportunities for veterans regardless of physical impairment;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives
reaffirms its concern for the veterans and their families and its
historical support of preferred employment opportunities promised to
veterans; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be
immediately transmitted by the Chief Clerk of the House of
Representatives to Disabled American Veterans of Washington.
