SB 6807 - DIGEST

Requires the office of the state long-term care ombudsman to provide ombudsman services for all persons receiving services from regional support networks and all licensed service providers under the community mental health services act.

Gives every person involuntarily detained or committed under chapter 71.05 RCW (mental health) the right to: (1) Be present at all involuntary commitment hearings; and

(2) Complain about rights violations or conditions and request the assistance of a mental health ombudsman or representative of Washington protection and advocacy.

Gives minors treated under chapter 71.34 RCW (mental health services for minors) the right to: (1) Communicate immediately with a parent or legal guardian when the minor is detained for evaluation and treatment; and

(2) Complain about rights violations or conditions and request the assistance of a mental health ombudsman or representative of Washington protection and advocacy.

Repeals the requirement for a separately funded mental health ombudsman office in certain regional support networks.
