    On page 7, after line 20, insert the following:

    "NEW SECTION. Sec. 8.  The state shall indemnify a school district from and against any judgments, settlements, penalties, fines, or expenses incurred in a proceeding brought against a school district under this act.  If so requested by the school district, the state shall advance expenses associated with the defense of the action."

    Renumber the remaining section consecutively and correct any internal references accordingly.

    On page 7, line 21, after "through" strike "7" and insert "8"

EFFECT:   Requires the state to indemnify school districts against any judgments, settlements, penalties, fines, or expenses incurred in a proceeding brought against a school district, and requires the state to advance expenses associated with the defense of the action if so requested by the school district.
