Background: Funding for transportation comes primarily from the motor vehicle fuel tax as well as various vehicle and driver licenses, permits, and fees.
Summary of Bill: Appropriations are made for state and local transportation programs for the 2011-13 biennium.
Certain vehicle, driver, and miscellaneous fees collected by the Department of Licensing are adjusted to recover the cost of issuing the various licenses and permits.
A fee of $5 is added to each studded snow tire sold that is to be collected by the Department of Revenue. All proceeds are deposited into the Motor Vehicle Account and used for road maintenance.
