Summary of Bill: A hair design license is created and DOL has authority to adopt minimum safety and sanitation rules for hair design. Provisions relating to cosmetology, barbering, esthetics, and manicuring apply to hair design.

Fiscal Note: Available.
Committee/Commission/Task Force Created: No.
Effective Date: Ninety days after adjournment of session in which bill is passed.
Staff Summary of Public Testimony: PRO: Washington is the only state that does not have a separate license for hair design. Because Washington does not have a separate license, Washington does not have reciprocity with other states.
Persons Testifying: PRO: Representative Kirby, prime sponsor.
