Background: The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) contracts with the Washington State Patrol (WSP) for work zone enforcement on construction sites. Effective July 1, 2001, any voluntary overtime earnings that result from these contracts are not included in the commissioned employee's salary and used for computing pension benefits.

Summary of Bill: For overtime compensation earned on or after July 1, 2013, WSP services contracted for with WSDOT would be included in the employees salary and as such used to calculate pension benefits.

Appropriation: None.
