Background: Electric vehicles that are powered solely by electricity are subject to a fee of $100 due annually at the time of registration renewal.
Summary of Bill: The annual fee of $100 is reduced to $20 for electric motorcycles at the time of registration renewal.

Effective Date: Ninety days after adjournment of session in which bill is passed.
Staff Summary of Public Testimony: PRO: Motorcycles drive much less than the average car and get much better gas mileage so this gets them much closer to what they would be paying in fuel tax. The current fee is a disincentive to registering and sales of electric motorcycles. There are immense job opportunities related to the infrastructure development related to electric vehicles and this will help expand that.
