WHEREAS, It is the policy of the Washington State House of Representatives to recognize the achievement and hard work of Washington's high school athletes, coaches, school officials, and advisors; and
     WHEREAS, Members of the Chiawana High School football team became Class 4A State Champions on December 7, 2013; and
     WHEREAS, The Chiawana Riverhawks defeated the Camas Papermakers 27-26 on December 7, 2013, at the Tacoma Dome in Tacoma, Washington; and
     WHEREAS, The Riverhawks scored 14 points in the remaining 55 seconds of the game to defeat the Papermakers by a single point; and
     WHEREAS, The Chiawana High School football team took home their first state title in three years since the team has participated in state championships; and
     WHEREAS, Chiawana High School head football coach Steve Graff received his fourth career state title, his first as head coach of the Chiawana High School football team; and
     WHEREAS, Head coach Graff was named the 2013 Washington State Football Coaches Association and the Seattle Seahawks coach of the year for a second time in his career; and
     WHEREAS, Upon reception of the above-mentioned awards, Graff received a $2,000 grant for the Chiawana High School football program; and
     WHEREAS, Graff also became the 2013 Mid-Columbia Conference coach of the year; and
     WHEREAS, This body recognizes the numerous accolades awarded to Graff and his positive contribution to Chiawana High School's football team; and
     WHEREAS, Recognition is given to Chiawana High School principal John Wallwork, assistant principals Brian Baker, Phil Koestner, Bryan Meredith, and Antonio Rubalcava, Dean of Students Angie Sessions, and Distributive Education Clubs of America (DECA) advisor Leslie Bell for fostering a supportive and productive environment for the Chiawana football team and all students of Chiawana High School; and
     WHEREAS, Acknowledgement is given for the perseverance, diligence, and spirit of Chiawana High School, its football team, its coach, and athletics director John Cazier;
     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That the Washington State House of Representatives recognize and honor the Chiawana High School football team head coach Steve Graff, athletics director John Cazier, Chiawana High School principal John Wallwork, assistant principals Brian Baker, Phil Koestner, Bryan Meredith, and Antonio Rubalcava, Dean of Students Angie Sessions, and DECA advisor Leslie Bell who, through teamwork, passion, and excellence, were awarded the title "Class 4A State Champions"; and
     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the Chief Clerk of the House of Representatives immediately transmit copies of this resolution to Coach Graff and the members of the 2013 Chiawana High School football team.
