"(3) For the purposes of this section, "significant segment" means five percent or more of the residents residing in the affected city, town, or county who are of limited English proficiency.

(4) Agencies shall implement the provisions of this section within existing funds."

On page 11, line 33 of the amendment, after "(2)" insert "Each local organization or joint local organization for emergency management must maintain updated demographic data for their jurisdictions and information on the languages represented by their respective communities.

EFFECT: Within existing funds, requires, rather than encourages, multilingual notices for department of natural resource prescribed burns and for public health or safety public notices when a significant segment of a community (defined as five percent or more of residents) are of limited English proficiency. Requires local organizations involved in emergency management to maintain demographic and language data for communities within their jurisdictions.
