Background: Revised Code of Washington (RCW) Generally. State laws are found in the RCW, which is codified and published by the Code Reviser under the supervision of the Statute Law Committee, a legislative agency.

Role of the Statute Law Committee and Code Reviser. The Statute Law Committee and Code Reviser must edit, organize, and codify laws enacted by the Legislature into the RCW. Form Year Designations. Throughout the RCW there are statutes that provide direction for the content of specific forms. Examples include forms for an indictment, wording of a ballot proposition, and real property deeds.

Generally, these forms include a space used to reference a specific date. In many RCW forms, the statute indicates a specific century, such as "19__."
