SENATE COMMITTEE ON LAW & JUSTICE

Staff: Melissa Burke-Cain (786-7755)

Background: The Legislature established the Superior Court Judges' Association by statute in 1933 as the "association of the superior court judges of the state of Washington". Over time, through long and regular usage, the association has become known as "the superior court judges' association." Not all statutory references to the association are consistent in the statutes.

Summary of Bill: References to "the association of superior court judges" are not completely consistent in the RCW. The association's long-standing commonly used name "the superior court judges' association" replaces "the association of superior court judges" throughout the RCWs.

Appropriation: None

Fiscal Note: Not requested.

Committee/Commission/Task Force Created: No.

Effective Date: Ninety days after adjournment of session in which bill is passed.
