    On page 1, line 6, after "(1)" insert "(a)"

 

    On page 1, after line 9, insert the following:

    "(b) Prior to implementing a composting program under this subsection (1), the school district must conduct a public meeting on the proposal.  A decision to implement the program must be approved by the applicable: (i) School district board of directors voting in a public meeting; and (ii) city or county agency with jurisdiction over solid waste issues."

 

 

 

    EFFECT:  (1) Establishes that prior to implementing a program that offers public school students the opportunity to compost their food waste, the school district must conduct a public meeting on the proposal. (2) Establishes that a decision to implement the program must be approved by the applicable school district board of directors and the city or county agency with jurisdiction over solid waste issues.
