Background: A certificated or classified employee of a school district may serve at the request of the Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI) or the State Board of Education on any committee formed for the purpose of furthering state education. If substitutes are needed in order for a certificated or classified employee to serve on a committee, then OSPI must make payments to the employing school district using funds appropriated by the Legislature for the use of the common schools.
Summary of Bill: OSPI must make payments to employing school district for substitutes needed because the Professional Educator Standard Board (PESB) requested certificated or classified school district employees to serve on a committee that furthers education in the state.
