Background: Duties of the Statute Law Committee (Committee). The primary responsibilities of the Committee and the Code Reviser (Reviser) are to periodically codify, index, and publish the RCW and to revise, correct, and harmonize the statutes by means of administrative or suggested legislative action. The Committee, or the Reviser with the approval of the Committee, must periodically make written recommendations to the Legislature concerning deficiencies, conflicts, or obsolete provisions in the RCW.
Summary of Bill: Certain obsolete and expired provisions are removed from the RCW. Other corrections are made to:
conform the start and end dates of daylight savings time to the dates in federal law;
address conflicting changes to the same statutory language;
correct errors to cross referenced sections of the RCW;
merge multiple amendments to an RCW section that originated from two separate 2010 bills each enacted without reference to the other; and
resolve conflicting expiration dates.

Staff Summary of Public Testimony: PRO: The Statute Law Committee and the Code Reviser oversees the publication of our laws and does so with very few errors. The RCW includes over 40,000 sections. This bill is making various updates and corrections to the law.
