Background: General provisions of state law designate official Washington State items, such as the state bird—willow goldfinch, state fruit—apple, and official marine mammal—orca.

A cryptid or crypto-animal is an animal whose existence or survival to the present day is disputed or unsubstantiated and is often focused on folklore record.

Sasquatch, also known as Bigfoot or Forest Yeti, is said to inhabit forests mainly in the Pacific Northwest and is usually described as a large human or ape-like creature covered in hair.

Summary of Bill: The Sasquatch, also commonly called Bigfoot or Forest Yeti, is designated as the official cryptid or crypto-animal of Washington State.
