On page 2, after line 33, insert the following:

"NEW SECTION. Sec. 7. (1) Employers with one hundred fifty or fewer employees may apply each year to the chief clerk of the house of representatives or the secretary of the senate for a grant under this section.

(2)(a) An employer may receive a grant of three thousand dollars if the employer hires a temporary worker to replace an employee on legislative leave under this act.

(b) An employer may receive a grant of up to one thousand dollars as reimbursement for significant additional wage-related costs due to an employee's legislative leave under this act.

(c) An employer may receive one grant per year under (a) or (b) of this subsection, but not both.

(4) To be eligible for a grant, the employer must provide written documentation showing the temporary worker hired or significant wage-related costs incurred are due to an employee's use of legislative leave."

Renumber the remaining sections consecutively and correct any internal references accordingly.

On page 3, line 1, after "through" strike "6" and insert "7"
