EFFECT:   Authorizes a candidate for sheriff to submit a bona fide letter from the criminal justice training commission or an entity accredited by the peace officer standards and training accreditation program provided by the international association of directors of law enforcement standards and training showing that the person has been approved for an exemption or waiver from the peace officer certification.
