SB 5685 - DIGEST

Requires school districts, beginning in the 2019-2020 school year, to identify one person in each school building as the student health and well-being primary contact.

Requires the contact to be appointed by the school building principal and he or she may be a mental health counselor or other professional trained in recognizing, screening, and responding to emotional or behavioral distress in students and identifying students who are at risk for substance abuse, violence, or youth suicide.
