On page 26, after line 15 of the striking amendment, insert the following:

"Sec. 18. RCW 35.66.050 and 1973 1st ex.s. c 154 s 53 are each amended to read as follows:

For the purpose of effecting the main object of this chapter, no ((member of one sex)) biological male under arrest shall be confined in the same cell or apartment of the city jail or prison, with any ((member of the other sex whatever)) biological female."

Renumber the remaining sections consecutively and correct any internal references accordingly.

On page 26, line 24 of the striking amendment, after "35.66.040;" insert "and"

On page 26, beginning on line 25 of the striking amendment, after "(5)" strike all material through "(6)" on line 27

EFFECT: Reinstates current law requiring separate quarters for members of the opposite sex during confinement after arrest. Prohibits a biological male and a biological female from being confined in the same cell or apartment following arrest.
