On page 13, line 32 of the striking amendment, after "(j)" strike "Except as provided in subsection (5) of this section, prior" and insert "Prior"
On page 16, beginning on line 1 of the striking amendment, after "The" strike all material through "section" on line 7 and insert "requirements of this section do not apply to any person who is holding an elected office of sheriff as of the effective date of this section"
On page 18, after line 13 of the striking amendment, insert the following:
"(3) Subsection (1) of this section does not apply to any person who is holding an elected office of sheriff as of the effective date of this section."
On page 19, line 8 of the striking amendment, after "office." insert "This subsection does not apply to any person who is holding an elected office of sheriff as of the effective date of this section."
| EFFECT: Exempts any person holding office as an elected sheriff at the time of the effective date of the relevant sections of the bill from eligibility requirements for the office of sheriff and from provisions establishing a vacancy in the sheriff's office if the elected sheriff does not maintain certification, is decertified, or if the eligibility requirements are not met or complied with while in office. |
