On page 2, beginning on line 4 of the striking amendment, beginning with "All" strike all material through "sheriffs" on line 17 and insert "The legislature finds that removal authority over elected county officials is a core local governmental function that may not be delegated to a state administrative agency absent constitutional amendment"
On page 17, beginning on line 33 of the striking amendment, strike all of subsection (1)
Renumber the remaining subsection consecutively and correct any internal references accordingly.
On page 18, beginning on line 14 of the striking amendment, strike all of section 12
Renumber the remaining sections consecutively and correct any internal references accordingly.
| EFFECT: Removes intent language and adds new intent language providing that the Legislature finds that removal authority over elected county officials is a core local governmental function that may not be delegated to a state administrative agency absent constitutional amendment. Removes provisions specifying when a vacancy is created in the office of an elected sheriff. |
