AN ACT Relating to the prevention of air pollution by motor vehicles; and adding a new section to chapter 46.61 RCW.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

NEW SECTION. Sec. 1.  A new section is added to chapter 46.61 RCW to read as follows:

          It is a traffic infraction for any person to cause or permit the engine of a motor vehicle, other than an emergency vehicle, to operate for longer than five consecutive minutes while the vehicle is parked, standing, or stopped, unless the engine is being used to operate a loading, unloading, or processing device, or while the engine itself is being adjusted, maintained, or repaired.
