AN ACT Relating to dredging; and adding a new section to chapter 43.21A RCW.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

 

          NEW SECTION.  Sec. 1.  A new section is added to chapter 43.21A RCW to read as follows:

          The department of ecology shall study methods of disposing and treating contaminated or polluted dredge spoils, and adopt regulations concerning the disposal and treatment of dredge spoils to ensure the health, safety, and welfare of citizens and property within this state.

          The disposal of dredging spoils obtained from dredging activities in saltwater and fresh water bodies in the state of Washington shall be done in conformance with this section.
