AN ACT Relating to disclosure of public records; and amending RCW 42.17.300.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

        Sec. 1.  Section 30, chapter 1, Laws of 1973 and RCW 42.17.300 are each amended to read as follows:

          No fee shall be charged for the inspection of public records.  Agencies may impose a reasonable charge for providing copies of public records and for the use by any person of agency equipment to copy public records, which charges shall not exceed the amount necessary to reimburse the agency for its actual costs incident to such copying:  PROVIDED, That a uniform fee for providing copies shall be established by each state and local agency for use throughout its jurisdiction.
