AN ACT Relating to credit cards; and adding a new chapter to Title 42 RCW.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

 

          NEW SECTION.  Sec. 1.     In the payment of any fees, taxes, fines, or other charges, the state and any agency, department, or political subdivision of the state may accept in lieu of cash a credit card issued by a bank or other financial institution if the bank or financial institution guarantees full payment of the amount due, without discount or other cost or charge, to the state or political subdivision.  The state and its agencies, departments, and political subdivisions may adopt such rules as are necessary to implement this section.

 

          NEW SECTION.  Sec. 2.     Section 1 of this act shall constitute a new chapter in Title 42 RCW.

 

          NEW SECTION.  Sec. 3.     If any provision of this act or its application to any person or circumstance is held invalid, the remainder of the act or the application of the provision to other persons or circumstances is not affected.
