AN ACT Relating to postretirement cost of living adjustments; adding a new section to chapter 43.88 RCW; and declaring an emergency.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

NEW SECTION. Sec. 1.  A new section is added to chapter 43.88 RCW to read as follows:

          The omnibus biennial operating appropriations act shall include an appropriation for the full amount that will be paid out to beneficiaries during the effective period of the appropriations act under any postretirement cost of living adjustment adopted after the effective date of this act.

NEW SECTION. Sec. 2.     This act is necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health, and safety, the support of the state government and its existing public institutions, and shall take effect immediately.
