                              SYNOPSIS AS ENACTED

 

BACKGROUND:

 

The driver of any vehicle involved in any accident resulting in personal injury, death, or property damage of $500 or more, must file copies of an accident report with the local law enforcement agency, the Washington State Patrol and the Department of Licensing.

 

Driver's licenses, permits or driving privileges for nonresidents must be suspended by the Department of Licensing for failure to report an accident until the report is filed.

 

SUMMARY:

 

The Department of Licensing is granted discretion over whether to suspend a driver's license, permit or nonresident driving privilege for failure to file an accident report.
