BACKGROUND:

Statutes directly applicable to the legislative branch of state government are found in several chapters of the code.  One of those chapters contains general provisions applicable to the Legislature.  Another establishes the boundaries of the current legislative districts and certain matters concerning the implementation of the redistricting law adopted in 1981.

SUMMARY:

A provision of law establishing the date on which the regular term of office of a member of the legislature begins is transferred from a chapter of law establishing legislative districts to a chapter of law containing general provisions applicable to the legislature.
