SYNOPSIS AS ENACTED

BACKGROUND:

Current law protects low income persons from having their heat cut off in the winter.  However, these persons must take certain actions when notified by their utility company of overdue bills.  Municipal gas utilities were not covered by these protective provisions.

SUMMARY:

Municipal gas utility customers now have the same winter heating continuity protection as customers of other utilities.
