AS REPORTED BY COMMITTEE ON ENVIRONMENT & NATURAL RESOURCES, FEBRUARY 22, 1988

BACKGROUND:

Charter boats that fish for salmon and other food fish must have a charter boat license unless the fishing occurs in lakes, streams, or rivers.  The two exceptions to the fresh water charter license exemption are salmon charter fishing in Lake Washington and in the Columbia River below the Longview Bridge.  Both of these areas require a charter license for salmon charter boat operators.

The department desires that charter boats who fish for sturgeon in the Columbia River below the Longview Bridge be required to have a charter boat license.

SUMMARY:

Charter boats who fish for sturgeon in the Columbia River below the Longview Bridge are required to have a charter boat license.

Appropriation:    none

Revenue:    yes

Fiscal Note:      none requested
